Bijar Oriental Rugs

Bijar Oriental Rugs is a family business. Founder Sayed Husseini has loved rugs his whole life, and he still cares most about finding people the right piece and treating them well.

Sayed came to the United States from Afghanistan in 1982 and went to work for a rug dealer. In 1987 he opened the first Bijar Oriental Rugs across from Piedmont Hospital. In 2002 we moved to our current location on Miami Circle, where we could expand and work more closely with designers and customers.

His wife Nadia, his son Idriece, and his daughters Hadia and Aisha are always involved in the business. When you come into the showroom, you are dealing with our family.

Over the years Sayed has built lasting relationships across the design world, including supplying rugs to Bradford's Interiors in Nashville and a joint venture with the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. For many seasons he also traveled to trade shows across the country, introducing Bijar's collection to designers and buyers far beyond Atlanta.

One of his favorite projects remains the G8 Summit on Sea Island, Georgia, where he placed rugs throughout many of the popular buildings, hotels, restaurants, and gathering spaces that hosted the event. It is the kind of work that still captures what he loves most: beautiful rugs, well chosen, in rooms where people gather.

That same passion shows up every day in the showroom, helping each client find the right piece, explaining the craft with honesty, and making sure the experience feels as considered as the rugs themselves.
